A serious incident of alleged violence has rocked a private school in Rania town, Sirsa district, leaving a student with critical head injuries. The event has sparked a major controversy, with the victim's family and the school management presenting starkly different versions of what transpired.
Alleged Classroom Assault Leaves Student Unconscious
The injured student has been identified as Navdeep Singh. According to his family, the attack occurred during school hours inside a classroom. They allege that four of Navdeep's classmates assaulted him with an iron stool, targeting his head and hands. The assault was so severe that it caused him to lose consciousness after his turban fell off during the beating.
Navdeep's father, Amrik Singh, stated in his complaint to the Superintendent of Police that he was informed about his son's condition by a school teacher. The complaint further reveals that Navdeep had been facing mental harassment and threats from the same group of students for some time prior to the physical attack. Medical reports confirmed that Navdeep sustained stitches on his head and legs, with noticeable swelling on one side of his head.
Conflicting Narratives: School Hours vs. Tuition Time
The school management has firmly denied the family's account, creating a central point of contention. The school principal initially denied any connection between the incident and the institution. Later, while acknowledging Navdeep as a student, the principal claimed that the student did not attend school on December 31 and that the altercation happened during tuition classes outside the school premises.
This contradiction has led the family to demand that police examine the school's CCTV footage. They have raised suspicions that the school management may have deleted crucial video evidence to obscure the truth about the timing and location of the attack.
Police Investigation Underway, FIR Awaited
Following the complaint, the Rania police have taken action. They have recorded the statement of the injured student, Navdeep Singh. Police Station In-charge, PSI Gurnaminder Singh, confirmed that the matter is under active investigation. He stated that an FIR would be registered after the completion of the preliminary investigation, and appropriate legal action will be taken based on the findings.
The case highlights serious concerns about student safety and institutional accountability within educational settings. As the police continue their probe to reconcile the conflicting stories, the community awaits clarity on the circumstances that led to such a brutal assault on a young student.
