Educational institutions across the states of Punjab and Haryana embraced the festive spirit, organising vibrant celebrations to mark Christmas. The events, held on school premises, were filled with joy, carols, and the message of peace, bringing students and staff together in a colourful display of unity.

Festive Activities and Cultural Performances

Schools went all out to create a merry atmosphere for their students. A key highlight across many institutions was the arrival of Santa Claus, who distributed sweets and gifts, much to the delight of the children. Classrooms and halls were adorned with Christmas trees, stars, and colourful decorations, setting a perfect backdrop for the celebrations.

Students actively participated in a variety of cultural programmes. These included singing Christmas carols, performing nativity plays depicting the birth of Jesus Christ, and engaging in festive dances. The celebrations were not just about fun; they served as an educational experience where teachers explained the significance of Christmas, emphasising its core values of love, compassion, and spreading joy.

Celebrations Across Multiple Cities and Towns

The festive wave was widespread, touching schools in numerous locations. In Patiala, the Police DAV Public School organised a special assembly where the Christmas story was narrated. Similarly, in Ambala, the DAV Public School in Jagadhri witnessed enthusiastic participation from its primary wing students in carol singing and play performances.

Other notable celebrations took place at Shishu Niketan Senior Secondary School in Patiala, DAV Public School in Panchkula, and Cambridge International School in Phagwara. Each institution added its unique touch, with some including fancy dress competitions and festive art and craft activities. The Green Land Senior Secondary School in Jalandhar also joined in, hosting a grand celebration for its students.

Emphasis on Unity and the Spirit of Giving

The overarching theme of all celebrations was the promotion of harmony and the spirit of giving. School principals and teachers addressed the students, highlighting how Christmas transcends religious boundaries to convey a universal message of peace and goodwill. The events successfully fostered a sense of community and shared happiness among the young learners.

These school-level celebrations reflect the cultural diversity and inclusive ethos of the Indian education system. By observing such festivals, schools play a crucial role in teaching children to respect all traditions and celebrate the nation's rich pluralistic fabric. The joyous events concluded with students sharing festive treats, embodying the true spirit of Christmas.
