Rajasthan Teachers Raise Alarm Over Delayed Supplementary Exam Schedule

Government school teachers in Rajasthan have voiced significant concerns regarding the delay in announcing supplementary examination dates for Classes 9 and 11. This issue has emerged following the declaration of annual results on March 25, creating uncertainty about student progression to the next academic class.

Formal Appeal to State Government

In a formal letter addressed to the state government on Monday, the Rajasthan Primary and Secondary Teachers Association highlighted that supplementary exam dates for Classes 9 and 11 are traditionally included in the education department's official academic calendar. However, the association noted that the current 2025-26 academic calendar schedules these crucial examinations for the first week of July 2026.

The association emphasized that the 2026-27 academic session is scheduled to commence on April 1, 2026. While dates for regular examinations and result declarations underwent revisions in the 2025-26 academic calendar, the supplementary exam dates were conspicuously omitted from these updates.

Oversight in Academic Planning

"The scheduling of dates for the supplementary examinations appears to have been inadvertently overlooked," stated the association's letter. "We request that, given the annual examination results were declared on March 25 and the new academic session is set to commence on April 1, appropriate directives be issued to address this pressing matter."

Teachers have put forth specific demands regarding the examination timeline. They are advocating for these supplementary exams to be conducted during the first two weeks of April, preferably within the first week or by April 10 at the latest. This should be followed by prompt declaration of results to facilitate smooth academic transitions.

Historical Context and Current Confusion

Vipin Prakash Sharma, the state president of the Rajasthan Primary and Secondary Teachers Association, provided important context about previous examination practices. "Within the education department's established framework, supplementary examinations following the annual exams have traditionally been conducted in July, after the commencement of the new academic session," Sharma explained.

"The results of these supplementary exams are typically declared at the school level on the very next day following the examinations," Sharma added, highlighting the efficiency of previous systems.

The current absence of scheduled supplementary exams has created substantial confusion among teaching staff. Teachers are uncertain whether to promote students who require these supplementary examinations to the next academic class without the completion of this crucial assessment process.

This administrative gap threatens to disrupt the academic progression of numerous students across Rajasthan's government schools, potentially affecting their educational trajectories and creating logistical challenges for both educators and administrators as the new academic year approaches.
