Punjab School Education Board Mandates Digital Admissions for Classes 8-12
Punjab Schools Must Use Digital Admission System for Classes 8-12

Punjab School Education Board Implements Mandatory Digital Admission System

In a major step towards digitizing school administration, the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) has announced a compulsory online admission system for all affiliated schools across the state. This new directive, effective from the upcoming academic session in April, requires schools to upload student admission details digitally for Classes 8 to 12 before any registration or continuation processes can proceed.

End of Manual Admission Registers

The initiative marks a significant shift away from traditional manual admission registers, which were prone to errors and inefficiencies. Under the revised system, schools must first complete their admission entries on the official online portal. Only students with properly recorded details, including admission numbers and dates, will be eligible for registration and fee submission. This centralizes all admission-related records, ensuring greater accuracy and real-time monitoring.

Compliance Requirements for Schools

To facilitate this transition, the PSEB has outlined specific compliance steps for schools. Institutions are required to:

  • Update their school profile on the login system, including infrastructure details and staff records.
  • Have the principal or head digitally verify and submit a declaration confirming the accuracy of all information.
  • Use Aadhaar-linked mobile authentication for secure e-signing, where an OTP is sent to a registered mobile number for submission.

Officials emphasize that the online admission and withdrawal register will serve as the primary database, aiming to reduce discrepancies and prevent manual errors. Schools must complete all updates within stipulated timelines, as delays could impact student eligibility, with responsibility falling on the school's principal or head.

Official Statements and Impact

Gurinderjeet Kaur, District Education Officer (Secondary), commented on the move, stating, "This is the first time that the online admission and registration system has been digitalized. While schools will still use existing manual registers as base records, this initiative will enhance transparency and minimize errors." The directive, issued on March 18, underscores the board's commitment to modernizing education management in Punjab.

This mandatory digital admission system is expected to streamline administrative processes, improve data integrity, and support better oversight of student admissions across the state. Schools are urged to adhere to the new guidelines to ensure a smooth transition and uninterrupted student services.
