Noida's Annual Textbook Exchange Fair Expands to Six Locations This Sunday
As the academic year concludes, Noida is gearing up for its annual textbook exchange initiative, which is set to accelerate this weekend. The Maghdutam Rangmanch team will host the free textbook exchange fair at Maghdootam Park in Sector 50 on Sunday from 10am to 1pm.
Expanded Reach for Greater Accessibility
In a significant first, this year's event will be simultaneously hosted at five additional locations across the city. These include Alok Vihar 2 in Sector 50, Apex Athena apartment complex and Golf City Club in Sector 75, Cleo County in Sector 121, and the Noida Public Library in Sector 15. This expansion aims to make the initiative more accessible to residents throughout Noida.
Inspired by Daryaganj Tradition
The fest, organized under the banner of Daryaganj, The Annual Used Textbook Donation Mela, draws inspiration from the iconic Daryaganj book market in Delhi, renowned for its second-hand book sales. Designed to foster the art of giving and sharing within the community, the event encourages residents to donate school textbooks they no longer need at the end of the academic year and acquire others that will be useful in the upcoming term.
Promoting Community Spirit and Sustainability
Vinod Agarwal from the Meghdutam Rangmanch team, which organizes cultural and social events at the park, emphasized the importance of this year's expanded effort. "Books left after the exchange will be collected by the Noida Public Library to benefit schools in their network," he stated. According to Agarwal, the Daryaganj concept transcends mere book swapping; it highlights the joy of sharing knowledge and resources, reinforcing values of community spirit and mutual support.
"We are thrilled to increase accessibility by having multiple donation points. This pushes forward the idea of reusing textbooks while fostering a sense of community," he added.
Anticipating a Strong Turnout
Gurvinder Singh, also from the Meghdutam team, noted that the event has grown in popularity over the years and expects a robust participation this year as well. "We've seen a great response, and more locations this year can only enhance that," he said.
Inspiring Broader Community Action
Anuja Agrawal, another member of the organizing team, highlighted the broader goals of the initiative. "The aim is to inspire others in the community to hold similar events, spreading the message of giving and sustainability in education," she explained.
Past Success and Future Prospects
In previous editions, hundreds of textbooks across various subjects have been exchanged. Vinod Agarwal shared, "Typically, we see around 500 textbooks exchanged each March, along with 200 general books throughout the year during our monthly events." He urged residents and book enthusiasts to participate, not only to access free educational materials but also to contribute to a noble cause.
"The fair promises to be a wonderful opportunity for families to refresh their children's study materials while fostering a culture of sharing," he concluded.
