Mangaluru Businessman Fulfills 42-Year-Old Dream by Passing II PU Exam
In an inspiring tale of perseverance, a chit fund businessman from Kolya in Ullal taluk, Mangaluru, has successfully cleared the II Pre-University (PU) exam, achieving a long-pending academic goal after a gap of four decades. Mohan Raj, who appeared as a private candidate in the arts stream, scored 324 marks and secured a second-class pass on his very first attempt, marking a significant personal victory.
A Family Celebration: Son Also Achieves Academic Success
This achievement became even more special as it coincided with the results of his youngest son, Kshitij Raj, who also passed the II PU exam, earning a first class in the commerce stream. The dual success has turned into a joyous family milestone, highlighting the power of shared dedication and support.
Raj had originally discontinued his education after completing I PU. He passed his SSLC in 1984 from Anandashram High School in Kolya and later joined Madani College in Ullal for PU studies. However, life took a different turn as he went on to marry and raise three children, always carrying the regret of not completing his PU education.
Inspiration from Son Leads to Academic Return
According to Raj, it was his son's preparation for the exam that inspired him to return to academics. He decided to study alongside his son, hoping that his own effort would encourage the boy to take his studies more seriously. Beginning his preparation in November last year, Raj attended private coaching classes in Thokkottu to brush up on his knowledge and skills.
Raj wrote the exam at the government college in Mudipu, where his presence initially surprised both students and invigilators. After learning that he had come to write the exam, they offered him encouragement and support, creating a positive atmosphere for his endeavor.
Wife's Support and a Message for Parents
Raj emphasized that his wife, Mamata, stood firmly by him throughout his preparation, providing unwavering emotional and practical support. With the result now out, Raj has completed what he described as "a 42-year-old dream," showcasing that it is never too late to pursue educational goals.
Speaking about education, Raj shared that parents have a responsibility to create a supportive atmosphere for their children's learning. His story serves as a powerful example of how family encouragement and personal determination can lead to remarkable achievements, regardless of age or time constraints.
