Maharashtra State Board Class X Examinations Commence with Robust Preparations
The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education has officially launched the Class X examinations, with a significant focus on the Kolhapur divisional board. Across the districts of Kolhapur, Sangli, and Satara, an estimated 130,000 students are eligible to participate in these crucial assessments. The exams are scheduled to begin on Friday, marking a pivotal moment in the academic calendar for secondary education in the region.
Comprehensive Exam Infrastructure and Security Measures
To facilitate the smooth conduct of the examinations, the board has established 362 exam centers throughout the Kolhapur division. In a strategic move to enhance integrity and oversight, the board has deployed 45 invigilators and implemented a staff reshuffling initiative at 14 specific centers. This measure aims to prevent any potential biases or irregularities during the exam process.
Advanced surveillance technologies have been integrated to combat exam malpractice effectively. CCTV cameras have been installed in the majority of exam halls, providing continuous monitoring of activities. Additionally, the board plans to utilize drones equipped with cameras to maintain aerial vigilance, ensuring a secure environment from all angles.
Student-Centric Support and Academic Resources
The examination schedule has been meticulously designed to offer students multiple-day gaps between papers, allowing ample time for revision and preparation. Rajesh Kshirsagar, the chairman of the Kolhapur divisional board, emphasized the board's commitment to student welfare. "We have deployed counsellors to address student concerns, particularly those related to stress and anxiety," he stated.
To bolster academic readiness, the board has developed a series of educational resources. Video lectures covering key topics from every subject have been prepared, enabling students to review and reinforce their understanding. Teachers have also contributed by creating separate instructional videos, providing diverse learning materials to cater to different student needs.
Contrast with CBSE Examinations and Student Feedback
In a parallel development, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) commenced its Class X exams on Tuesday, starting with the mathematics paper. Feedback from students indicates challenges with the exam's difficulty level. One anonymous CBSE student shared, "I could not complete the paper; the case studies were lengthy. I left a 10-mark question unanswered. Question number 33 was particularly tough and time-consuming."
A mathematics teacher commented on the perceived rigor, suggesting, "Students are apprehensive about the upcoming English paper's toughness. Perhaps, with the dual exam system allowing two attempts, the critical subjects are set at a higher difficulty to maintain standards." This highlights the ongoing discussions around exam patterns and student preparedness across different educational boards in India.
