Ludhiana District Administration Recognizes 11 Rural Women with Nameplates Under 'Meri Yogyta Meri Pehchan' Initiative

The Ludhiana district administration has taken a significant step towards empowering women in rural areas by recognizing 11 highly qualified women from Manakwal village. Under the innovative 'Meri Yogyta Meri Pehchan' initiative, nameplates displaying their names and educational qualifications have been installed outside their houses. This move aims to provide a distinct identity to exceptional women who have overcome societal challenges to pursue higher education.

Official Visit and Address by Deputy Commissioner

Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain, along with Assistant Commissioner Pragati Verma and District Programme Officer Gurmeet Singh, visited Manakwal village to personally oversee the installation of these nameplates. In his address to the villagers, Jain highlighted the long-standing discrimination faced by girls and women, emphasizing that they often struggle harder than their male counterparts to access educational opportunities.

Jain stated, "When women achieve degrees despite numerous obstacles, it becomes our duty to respect and recognize their accomplishments. Any daughter or sister who wishes to have a nameplate mentioning her name and qualifications can approach the district administration. We will prepare and install a beautiful nameplate at her residence free of cost."

Motivation and Inspiration for Future Generations

The initiative is designed not only to honor these women but also to motivate them to pursue further studies and inspire other girls in the region. Jain added that seeing these nameplates will encourage more young girls to aim for higher qualifications and break traditional barriers. He appealed to residents to support this effort, noting that it will help daughters achieve greater success in life and contribute meaningfully to society.

State Government's Efforts in Women Empowerment

Highlighting the broader context, Jain praised the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, for taking concrete steps to empower women. He mentioned that the state government has appointed women to prominent positions in administration and governance, including roles such as Deputy Commissioners, Senior Superintendents of Police, Additional Deputy Commissioners, and Sub-Divisional Magistrates.

Jain emphasized, "Women officials are performing their duties with great dedication, sensitivity, and efficiency, which immensely benefits society. We urge more women to pursue higher education and secure higher positions to make meaningful contributions."

Community Response and Gratitude

Manpreet Singh Manu, the sarpanch of Manakwal village, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Deputy Commissioner and the administration for honoring the educated daughters of the village. This recognition has been welcomed by the local community as a positive step towards fostering gender equality and promoting educational aspirations among rural women.

The 'Meri Yogyta Meri Pehchan' initiative underscores a commitment to community development and women's leadership, setting a precedent for other districts to follow in recognizing and celebrating the achievements of women in rural India.
