The Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) has unveiled a significant recruitment initiative for Special Educator positions, targeting the academic year 2026–27. This drive aims to fill a total of 987 sanctioned vacancies for Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) and Primary Teacher (PRT) roles, specifically designed to enhance support for Children with Special Needs (CWSN) across the nationwide network of Kendriya Vidyalayas.

Comprehensive Recruitment Drive for Special Educators

These newly approved posts have been established in alignment with inputs gathered from various KVS Regional Offices under the Ministry of Education. The detailed official notification outlining the recruitment methodology is scheduled to be released shortly on the official KVS website, kvsangathan.nic.in. Prospective applicants can anticipate the application window to open in early February 2026, marking a crucial opportunity for qualified educators.

Distribution of Sanctioned Posts Across Regions

KVS has provisionally allocated the 987 vacant Special Educator posts across Kendriya Vidyalayas located throughout the country. This distribution has been carefully planned, taking into account regional demand and specific feedback from offices in those areas. Of the total allocations, 493 positions are designated for Special Educator-TGT posts, while 494 are for Special Educator-PRT posts.

The primary objective of these appointments is to provide structured academic and developmental support for Children with Special Needs within the KVS school system. State-wise vacancy details for both TGT and PRT posts will be made available through an official PDF document, which will be released concurrently with the main notification.

Eligibility Criteria for PRT Special Educator Posts

They must have passed Senior Secondary (Class 12) with a minimum of 50 per cent marks. Additionally, applicants are required to possess a two-year Diploma in Special Education in any recognised category of disability.

Qualifying the CTET Paper-I conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is mandatory for eligibility. Furthermore, candidates must demonstrate proficiency in teaching in both Hindi and English, in accordance with the established teaching requirements of KVS.

Eligibility Criteria for TGT Special Educator Posts

For TGT Special Educator posts, applicants should hold a graduation degree with at least 50 per cent aggregate marks. Professional qualifications include either a B.Ed. in Special Education or a B.Ed. (General) accompanied by a one-year Diploma in Special Education.

Candidates must have qualified CTET Paper-II conducted by CBSE. Moreover, valid registration with the Rehabilitation Council of India is compulsory for appointment to these positions, ensuring adherence to professional standards.

Age Limit and Selection Process Details

The cut-off date for age calculation will be specified in the official notification. For TGT posts, the upper age limit is set at 35 years, while for PRT posts, it is 30 years. Details regarding age relaxation will be communicated at a later stage.

The selection process comprises a multi-stage evaluation. Initially, candidates will undergo an objective Computer Based Test carrying 180 marks. This test will include questions on General English, Hindi, Reasoning Skills, Perspectives on Education, and subject-specific knowledge.

Short-listed candidates will then proceed to the Professional Competence Test, which involves a demonstration of teaching skills and interviews, collectively allocated 60 marks. Typically, the weightage is distributed in a 70:30 ratio between the written examination and the interview, ensuring a comprehensive assessment of candidates' capabilities.
