The Karnataka state government has provided a firm assurance regarding the introduction of coaching and board-integrated curricular activities within the pre-university (PU) education system. This significant commitment was delivered during a crucial meeting held in Bengaluru on Thursday at the office of Rashmi Mahesh, the principal secretary of the school education department.
Key Meeting with Private College Management Association
The meeting involved detailed discussions with representatives from the Karnataka Unaided PU College Management Association (KUPMA). Officials confirmed that comprehensive guidelines for implementing the integrated curriculum will be formally issued by the pre-university education department in the near future.
Comprehensive Discussion on PU Sector Reforms
The nearly two-hour meeting focused extensively on a wide range of proposed reforms for the pre-university sector. Among the most prominent topics was the proposed implementation of transfer certificates through the DigiLocker platform. The department has decided to adopt a cautious approach, carefully evaluating both the advantages and operational challenges associated with this digital system before full-scale implementation.
Enhanced Coordination with Private Colleges
To improve coordination with private unaided PU colleges, the school education (pre-university) department has proposed establishing quarterly review meetings with KUPMA. These meetings will be conducted under the chairmanship of the director and are designed to create a regular platform for discussing academic and administrative matters. This initiative aims to facilitate quicker policy decisions and smoother implementation of educational reforms.
Introduction of Competitive Examination Coaching
Another major proposal discussed during the meeting was the introduction of competitive examination coaching in government PU colleges through collaboration with KUPMA.
