Karnataka DC Issues Detailed Guidelines for Smooth Conduct of PU and SSLC Exams
In a significant move to ensure the seamless administration of upcoming Pre-University (PU) and Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examinations, Deputy Commissioner KS Latha Kumari of Hassan district has issued a comprehensive set of directives to officials. The instructions were delivered during a high-level meeting convened at the DC's office on Saturday, focusing on meticulous preparations for the crucial academic assessments.
Essential Amenities and Infrastructure Mandated
Drinking water facilities and well-maintained toilets must be available at all examination centers, as emphasized by the DC. She stressed that these basic amenities are critical for student comfort and hygiene during the exam period. Additionally, officials were instructed to ensure that exam center premises and rooms are kept impeccably clean to provide a conducive environment for test-takers.
Transport and Accommodation for Rural and Hilly Areas
Recognizing the challenges faced by students from remote regions, DC Latha Kumari directed authorities to arrange alternative transport and accommodation for those traveling from rural and hilly areas. This includes scheduling additional KSRTC buses on time to facilitate student mobility. In a specific note, transport arrangements were also mandated for areas affected by wild elephant movements to prevent disruptions.
Security and Personnel Management
To maintain integrity and order, the DC outlined strict protocols for exam center staff. All personnel must wear identification badges, and only those assigned specific exam duties should be permitted inside the centers. Furthermore, parents are prohibited from being assigned duties at centers where their own children are appearing for exams, to avoid potential conflicts of interest.
Emergency Preparedness and Support Systems
A robust emergency response framework was ordered, with medical teams and ambulances required to be present and ready at all exam centers. For power reliability, KPTCL and CESC officials must ensure an uninterrupted electricity supply throughout the examination sessions. Additionally, a dedicated helpline will be established to address any confusion or queries regarding exam preparations, providing timely assistance to students and parents.
Technology Restrictions and Oversight Measures
In line with exam integrity, the use of electronic devices is strictly limited to basic calculators only, with officials urged to exercise caution in enforcing this rule. To ensure compliance and quality, assistant commissioners and tahsildars have been tasked with conducting surprise visits to exam centers, inspecting preparation arrangements firsthand.
These proactive measures underscore the district administration's commitment to facilitating a fair, secure, and supportive examination experience for all students involved in the PU and SSLC assessments.
