Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) has officially kicked off the admission process for its affiliated schools for the upcoming academic session 2026-27. The university has released a detailed schedule, outlining crucial dates, applicable fees, and submission procedures for various classes, starting from Nursery up to Class XI.
Admission Schedule for Entry-Level Classes
The admission process for the youngest learners will commence first. Applications for Nursery, Preparatory (Prep), and Class I will open on January 7, 2026. Parents and guardians must note that the window to submit the forms is relatively short, with the final deadline set for January 27, 2026. These admissions will be conducted at two specific institutions: Mushir Fatma Nursery School and Syed Abid Husain Senior Secondary School (S/F).
All candidates applying for these foundational classes are required to pay a non-refundable application fee of Rs 500. The entire registration process is expected to be conducted online through the official JMI admission portal at admission.jmi.ac.in, as per the notification dated January 2, 2026.
Important Dates for Higher Classes and Streams
For students seeking admission to middle and secondary levels, JMI has announced separate timelines. The admission process for Class VI and Class IX will begin later, with applications becoming available from February 5, 2026. The last date to apply for these grades is March 5, 2026.
Seats for these classes will be offered at three schools: Jamia Senior Secondary School, Jamia Girls Senior Secondary School (S/F), and Syed Abid Husain Senior Secondary School (S/F). The application fee remains Rs 500.
Admissions to Class XI will be conducted stream-wise for Science, Arts, and Commerce. The application window for Class XI is scheduled to open on February 20, 2026, and will close a month later on March 20, 2026. The fee for applying is also Rs 500, and admissions will be held at the same three senior secondary schools mentioned above.
Admissions for Balak Mata Centres
In addition to the regular school admissions, Jamia Millia Islamia will also conduct admissions for its Balak Mata Centres independently. The process for these centres differs in terms of procedure and fee structure.
Application forms for Balak Mata Centres will be available from March 5, 2026, and the final date for submission is April 20, 2026. Unlike the online process for other classes, forms for these centres must be submitted offline at designated centres located in Matia Mahal, Qassabpura, and Beriwala Bagh. The application fee for Balak Mata Centres is significantly lower at just Rs 50.
