Himachal Pradesh CM Sukhu Announces Major Education Overhaul with CBSE Curriculum in 140 Schools

In a significant move to enhance educational standards, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu declared on Thursday the introduction of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) curriculum in a total of 140 schools across the state. This initiative aims to provide students with a nationally recognized education framework, aligning with modern academic requirements.

Comprehensive Teacher Recruitment and Infrastructure Development

Sukhu assured that all necessary teachers for these schools would be appointed within the next two months, addressing potential staffing gaps promptly. Additionally, he announced that the education department will fill 400 lecturer and 400 assistant lecturer posts, bolstering the teaching workforce to support the new curriculum implementation.

To further strengthen educational infrastructure, the Chief Minister allocated Rs 20 crore for the Science College in Hamirpur. This funding is expected to facilitate upgrades in facilities and resources, enhancing the learning environment for students pursuing science disciplines.

New Academic Programs and Cultural Support

During the 29th annual prize distribution ceremony at Siddharth Government College in Nadaun, Hamirpur district, Sukhu unveiled plans for new academic courses. These include programs in physics, biology, and botany, along with upcoming Master of Computer Applications (MCA) and Master of Business Administration (MBA) programs at the college.

In a boost to extracurricular activities, Sukhu announced Rs 5 lakh in support for cultural initiatives at the institution, encouraging holistic student development beyond academics.

Student Loan Scheme and Infrastructure Projects

Sukhu highlighted the Dr YS Parmar Vidyarthi Rin Yojna, a student loan scheme that allows loans of up to Rs 20 lakh at a minimal interest rate of 1% for higher education. This initiative is designed to make advanced studies more accessible to students from diverse economic backgrounds.

He also laid the foundation stone for a multipurpose hall at Nadaun Government College, with an estimated cost of Rs 17.22 crore. This facility is intended to serve as a versatile space for academic, cultural, and sports events, contributing to the college's infrastructure.

Vision for Nadaun as a Development Hub

Describing Nadaun as his birthplace and karmabhoomi (workplace), Sukhu reaffirmed his commitment to its development. He envisions transforming the area into a major sports and tourism hub in the coming years, leveraging its potential to boost local economy and community engagement.

Furthermore, Sukhu mentioned that a separate dress code would be implemented for students in the schools adopting the CBSE curriculum, promoting a sense of unity and discipline among the student body.
