Dharwad District Prepares for Crucial SSLC Examinations Commencing March 18

The Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examination, a pivotal academic milestone for students across Karnataka, is set to begin on Wednesday, March 18, in Dharwad district. The school education department has finalized all arrangements to ensure a smooth and secure conduct of the exams, which will conclude on April 2.

Comprehensive Exam Infrastructure and Security Measures

This year, a total of 29,568 students have registered for the SSLC exams in Dharwad district. The examinations will be conducted across 105 centers throughout the district. To manage this large-scale operation, the department has deployed an extensive team of officials and staff.

  • 105 chief superintendents to oversee each center
  • 46 route officers for logistical coordination
  • 105 question paper custodians to ensure paper security
  • 105 vigilance officers and 105 mobile phone seizure officers to prevent malpractice
  • 1,450 room invigilators along with additional support staff

To maintain order and prevent any irregularities, prohibitory orders under Section 144 have been imposed around all examination centers. Additionally, photocopy shops within a 200-meter radius of the centers will remain closed throughout the examination period to eliminate any possibility of question paper leakage.

Enhanced Technological Monitoring and Police Security

All 105 examination centers have been equipped with CCTV surveillance systems to monitor activities continuously. Furthermore, webcasting arrangements have been established at the zilla panchayat hall, enabling real-time monitoring of the examination process by officials.

Tight police security arrangements have been implemented at key centers to ensure the safety of students and the integrity of the examination process. These measures reflect the department's commitment to conducting fair and transparent exams.

Focus on Improving Academic Performance and District Rankings

Dharwad, often recognized as an educational hub, has faced challenges in achieving satisfactory SSLC results in recent years, with the district ranking beyond the top 20 in the state. This year, the education department has launched several initiatives aimed at elevating Dharwad to a single-digit rank in the state.

Three rounds of preparatory examinations have already been conducted, followed by detailed performance analysis of students. Schools recording less than 85% results have been placed under the direct supervision of district and taluk-level officials, with an ambitious target of achieving 100% results.

Teachers across all high schools in the district have received specialized training based on model question papers, answer scripts, and blueprints released by the board. The district has also introduced the 'Mission 40 Plus' initiative, which aims to ensure every student scores at least 40 marks or above in the examinations.

In the third preparatory exam, Dharwad secured the ninth position in the state, boosting officials' confidence that the district will achieve a single-digit rank in the final SSLC results as well.
