The vibrant grounds of DAV Public School in BRS Nagar, Ludhiana, recently came alive with energy and enthusiasm as the institution successfully hosted its much-anticipated Annual Sports Meet for the year 2024. The event was a grand celebration of athleticism, teamwork, and school spirit, drawing participation from students across various grades.
A Ceremony Marked by Tradition and Excitement
The proceedings commenced with a formal and dignified opening ceremony. The school's principal, Dr. Satwant Kaur Bhullar, officially inaugurated the sports meet, setting the stage for a day of fierce but friendly competition. A highlight of the opening was the symbolic torch relay, where the flame of sportsmanship was carried by outstanding sportspersons of the school, eventually being used to light the ceremonial sports flame.
The atmosphere was further electrified by a spirited March Past performed by the four school houses: Aravali, Nilgiri, Shivalik, and Udaigiri. The precision and discipline displayed by the students set a high standard for the day. Following this, the entire assembly took a solemn oath, pledging to compete with true sportsman spirit, upholding the values of fairness and respect.
Cultural Extravaganza and Competitive Fervor
Before the races began, the audience was treated to a spectacular cultural display. Students presented a captivating mass PT demonstration, showcasing synchronised movements and coordination. The younger pupils charmed everyone with their lively ball dance and a colourful lehra dance, adding a festive and joyful dimension to the event.
Soon after, the focus shifted to the track and field, where the core competitive events unfolded. Students from different classes competed in a variety of races, including the 50m, 100m, 200m, and 400m sprints, as well as longer distance races. The shot put event tested strength and technique, while relay races highlighted teamwork and baton-passing skills. The playground echoed with cheers as participants gave their all, striving for victory and personal bests.
Honouring Achievement and Declaring Champions
The culmination of the sports meet was the prize distribution ceremony, presided over by the chief guest, Dr. Rajan Gupta. Dr. Gupta, along with Principal Dr. Satwant Kaur Bhullar, distributed medals, trophies, and certificates to the winners of the various events, acknowledging their hard work and dedication.
In a moment of great anticipation, the overall champion house of the Annual Sports Meet 2024 was announced. Shivalik House emerged victorious, claiming the coveted trophy for their outstanding collective performance across disciplines. The success of the event was attributed to the meticulous planning and efforts of the school's sports department, led by head of the department, Gagandeep Singh, and the entire team of sports teachers.
