The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) has unveiled a major infrastructure project aimed at easing congestion and improving safety for thousands of examinees and their families in Patna. The board plans to construct a modern, multi-level parking facility at the Bapu Examination Complex in Kumhrar, alongside a dedicated foot overbridge.
Details of the New Parking Infrastructure
BSEB Chairman Anand Kishor revealed that the proposed parking structure will be built on a plot measuring 2,429 square metres. With an estimated project cost of Rs 39 crore, the facility will feature three floors above the ground level, significantly expanding parking capacity. The design prioritizes accessibility and safety.
The entire parking area will use tactile flooring to ensure barrier-free movement for all vehicles. The structure will be equipped with modern amenities including sensor-based systems, fire alarms, and fire detection systems. In a move towards sustainability, solar panels will be installed on the roof to harness renewable energy.
Enhanced Safety with a New Foot Overbridge
Addressing a critical safety concern, Kishor stated that the Road Construction Department will build a foot overbridge near the complex. This bridge is designed to help pedestrians safely cross the perpetually busy and congested road in the area. The construction of this foot overbridge is estimated to cost Rs 4 crore.
This addition is expected to drastically reduce the risk for students and guardians who currently navigate heavy traffic to reach the examination centre.
Significance for Examination Candidates
The new facilities will serve the large number of students who take exams at the Bapu Examination Complex. Under the current setup, the complex can accommodate:
- Nearly 7,500 students simultaneously in offline and online modes in Blocks A and B.
- Around 3,000 candidates for online examinations in Block C.
The persistent issue of traffic congestion and inadequate parking has long been a major headache for visitors. The upcoming multi-level parking and footbridge are direct responses to these challenges, aiming to create a more organized and less stressful environment on examination days.
The project will be executed by the State Building Construction Department. Once completed, it is set to transform the experience for lakhs of students and their guardians who visit the crucial examination hub every year.
