The historic city of Belagavi is set to buzz with youthful energy as it prepares to host the prestigious 29th Karnataka State Scouts and Guides Jamborate after a gap of a quarter-century. The six-day mega event will unfold at the Phoenix Public School in Honaga village, commencing on December 27 and concluding on January 1.
A Grand Gathering of Young Talent
State chief commissioner of Bharat Scouts and Guides, PGR Sindhia, revealed the exciting details to the media on Saturday. He confirmed that a massive contingent of 5,500 individuals will participate in the jamboree. This includes a core group of 4,200 Scouts and Guides, all under the age of 16, who will showcase their skills and camaraderie.
Sindhia emphasized that the State Scouts and Guides Jamborate is a quadrennial event, held once every four years, making this edition particularly special for Belagavi. After 25 years, the city finally reclaims the honor of hosting this large-scale gathering focused on nurturing young minds.
Focus on Skill and Talent Development
The core philosophy of this year's jamboree, as outlined by the chief commissioner, will be to prioritize the showcasing of children's innate talent and practical skills. The event is designed to be more than just a camp; it is a platform for holistic development, leadership, and learning through adventure and community service.
The inauguration on the opening day, December 27, will be a star-studded affair. The ceremony will be graced by Karnataka Legislative Assembly Speaker UT Khader as the inaugurator. The event will witness the pious presence of Shivasiddha Someshwara Swamiji of Mukti Mutt.
Dignitaries and Distinguished Guests
District Minister Satish Jarkiholi will preside over the inaugural function. A host of other eminent personalities will attend as chief guests, including State Council Chairman Basavaraj Horatti, Ministers Madhu Bangarappa and Laxmi Hebbalkar, and MP Jagadish Shettar.
Adding national significance to the event, an invitation has been extended to Dr. KK Khandelwal, the National Chief Commissioner of Bharat Scouts and Guides. The list of attendees also features prominent local figures such as KLES Chairman Prabhakar Kore, DCC Bank President Anna Saheb Jolle, Phoenix Public School President Vivekrav Patil, and Chief Whip Ashok Pattan, alongside various MPs, MLAs, and public representatives.
The groundwork for the event was discussed in the presence of District Commissioner of Scouts and Guides Gajanana Mannikeri, Madhusudan, and BEO Ravi Bhajantri. As the dates approach, Belagavi is gearing up to welcome thousands of young scouts and guides for a memorable and enriching jamboree experience.
