Fostering a Competitive Spirit Among Schools

According to official sources, the government launched this program to encourage government schools and their SDMCs in their developmental efforts. By identifying committees that have excelled in improving educational quality, the initiative seeks to instill a competitive spirit among them. The primary objectives include raising awareness among SDMC members about the characteristics of a good school, building their capacity, motivating them to undertake commendable work, and promoting healthy competition between different schools and their committees.

DDPI Shanmukhaswamy Keladimath explained to TOI that the 'Best SDMC' program was specifically designed to recognize and honor members who have performed exceptionally in school development. The selection process is rigorous, based on school management and comprehensive data, with marks considered through the Vidyavahini portal. Following departmental directives, twenty-one schools were chosen for the award, with three schools selected from each taluk. The grants are expected to be transferred to these schools shortly.
