University of Mysore's Educational Centre Triumphs at National Film Festival

The Educational Multimedia Research Centre (EMRC) at the University of Mysore has garnered significant acclaim at the 27th CEC-UGC Educational Film Festival, organized by the Consortium for Educational Communication (CEC) in New Delhi. This prestigious event, which celebrates excellence in educational media, saw intense competition this year, with a total of 320 film entries submitted from institutions across India.

Highly Competitive Selection Process

Out of the hundreds of entries, only 19 documentaries and educational videos were chosen for awards, underscoring the festival's rigorous standards and selective nature. The recognition highlights the exceptional quality of content produced by EMRC, University of Mysore, which stood out in this crowded field.

Best Film Award for Arun Yogiraj Documentary

EMRC clinched the Best Film/Documentary Award for the film 'The Divine Sculptor – Arun Yogiraj', directed and produced by Chandra Kumar PH. The award comes with a cash prize of Rs 50,000. This documentary delves into the life, artistic achievements, and masterful craftsmanship of the renowned sculptor Arun Yogiraj, who recently gained national prominence for sculpting the idol of Ram Lalla at the Ayodhya temple.

The film provides an in-depth look at Yogiraj's journey, showcasing his dedication to the art of sculpture and his contribution to Indian cultural heritage. Best Editing Citation for Kalaripayattu Film

In addition to the Best Film Award, EMRC also received recognition in the Best Editing Award of Citation (Individual Excellence Category). This honor was awarded to K Gopinath for the documentary 'Kalaripayattu–The Indian Martial Arts', which he also directed and produced.

This documentary offers a comprehensive and engaging overview of Kalaripayattu, one of India's oldest and most revered martial art forms. It explores the historical roots, techniques, and cultural significance of Kalaripayattu, making it a valuable educational tool for understanding this ancient practice.
