Six Tamil Nadu Universities to Hold Convocations After Governor's Approval
Six state universities in Tamil Nadu will finally conduct their convocation ceremonies. This follows the governor's approval to proceed with the events. The convocations will run from January 22 to February 5. They will award degrees to more than five lakh students. These students passed out in the years 2024 and 2025.
Political Tussle Caused Delays
A political tussle between Governor R N Ravi and the state government caused significant delays. The dispute centers on including a UGC nominee in vice-chancellor search committees. This issue has left 14 out of 22 state universities without permanent vice-chancellors. The absence of leadership postponed convocations by one to two years across many institutions.
