SDMIMD Mysuru Celebrates 31st Annual Convocation with 230 Graduates

The Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Institute for Management Development (SDMIMD) in Mysuru marked a significant academic milestone with its 31st annual convocation ceremony held on Wednesday at the institute's campus. The event saw a total of 230 students from the Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) batch of 2024-26 being formally awarded their degrees, recognizing their successful completion of the rigorous management program.

Gold Medals Awarded to Top Academic Performers

During the prestigious ceremony, gold medals were conferred upon students who demonstrated exceptional excellence in their respective specializations. The chief guest, Rajendra Srivastava, presented these honors to the outstanding achievers. The recipients of the gold medals for academic performance were:

  • Smriti S Anand
  • Javeriya Tabassum
  • Amith M Kamath

In addition to these specialization awards, two highly coveted institutional honors were presented. The Chairman's Gold Medal for overall academic excellence was awarded to Javeriya Tabassum, while the Ankur Gupta Memorial Gold Medal for overall best performance was bestowed upon Amith M Kamath.

Keynote Address Focuses on Leadership and Continuous Learning

The convocation address was delivered by Rajendra Srivastava, who holds multiple distinguished positions including Novartis Professor of Marketing, Strategy and Innovation, Executive Director of the Centre for Business Innovation, and Executive Fellow Programme in Management at the Indian School of Business (ISB) in Hyderabad. In his insightful speech, Srivastava elaborated on the fundamental essence of true leadership, emphasizing that great leaders are characterized by their commitment to continuous learning and their ability to empower others to grow and develop.

To illustrate his points, Srivastava drew upon examples from successful brands and companies, discussing their growth trajectories, market presence, and broader influence in the business world. His address provided valuable perspectives for the graduating students as they prepare to embark on their professional careers.

Institute Leadership Presides Over Ceremonial Proceedings

The convocation was presided over by D Surendrakumar, Vice-President and member of the Governing Board of SDMIMD, Mysuru, who oversaw the formal proceedings of the event. A special video message from D Veerendra Heggade, Chairman of the Governing Board of SDMIMD, Mysuru, was presented during the ceremony, adding a personal touch from the institute's leadership.

Dr (Lt Col) Prasad SN, Director of SDMIMD, presented the comprehensive annual report for the academic year 2025-26. His presentation highlighted the institution's diverse activities, notable achievements, and overall progress during the past academic session, showcasing the institute's commitment to excellence in management education.
