Patna University Commemorates Ambedkar's 135th Anniversary, Lauds Constitution's Enduring Impact
Patna University (PU) vice-chancellor Ajay Kumar Singh, speaking as the chief guest at the 135th anniversary celebrations of B R Ambedkar on Tuesday, underscored the profound significance of India's Constitution. He stated that its adoption in 1950 marked a pivotal moment not just in the nation's political history but also in the advancement of social justice and human rights.
The vice-chancellor elaborated that the Constitution has been instrumental in unlocking new pathways for human welfare and development across the country. By guaranteeing equal rights and privileges to all citizens, it has laid a robust foundation for inclusive growth and societal progress. Singh emphasized that Ambedkar's visionary thoughts remain critically relevant today, serving as a guiding force for India's comprehensive and all-round development.
Academic Insights on Constitutional Balance and Implementation
Bharti S Kumar, former head of PU's history department, contributed to the discourse by highlighting the Constitution's delicate equilibrium between political and social justice. She attributed this balanced framework to the relentless efforts and intellectual contributions of B R Ambedkar. Kumar stressed the necessity of sincere implementation of all constitutional provisions designed to ensure the welfare of common citizens, urging a renewed commitment to these ideals.
The event, jointly organized by the PU Ambedkar chair and the PU education department, was presided over by Khagendra Kumar, head of the education department. It saw active participation from key university figures, including PU dean of students' welfare Yogendra Kumar Varma, education faculty dean Wasey Jafar, and proctor Manoj Kumar Sinha, alongside numerous faculty members and students.
Attendees collectively paid heartfelt tributes to Ambedkar, reflecting on his enduring legacy and the transformative power of the Constitution in shaping modern India. The gathering served as a reminder of the ongoing need to uphold constitutional values to foster a just and equitable society.
