Panchkula College Honors Martyrs with Special Army Outreach Programme
In a heartfelt tribute to the nation's heroes, NSS volunteers at Government Post Graduate College, Sector 1, Panchkula, commemorated Shaheedi Diwas with a comprehensive outreach initiative titled "Apni fauj ko jaane" (Know your Army). This significant event was organized by the Gyan Setu Think Tank in collaboration with the Chandigarh Citizens Foundation, forming a key part of an ongoing seven-day NSS camp aimed at fostering patriotism and civic responsibility among youth.
Army Collaboration and Leadership Guidance
The programme received robust support from the Indian Army Western Command, based in Chandimandir, which orchestrated a special outreach session for the volunteers. Conducted under the esteemed guidance of Army Commander Lt Gen MK Katiyar and Chief of Staff Lt Gen Puneet Ahuja, the initiative underscored the military's commitment to engaging with the younger generation and instilling values of discipline and national pride.
Immersive Experiences at War Memorial and Museum
During the event, volunteers embarked on a poignant visit to the newly constructed war memorial, where they paid solemn homage to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the country. The experience was further enriched by a tour of the Army museum, offering insights into the rich history and enduring traditions of the Indian Army. An inspirational film showcasing the Western Command's operations and achievements was screened, highlighting the bravery and strategic prowess of the armed forces.
Demonstrations and Patriotic Rally
To provide a glimpse into modern military capabilities, demonstrations of advanced equipment and cutting-edge drone technology were organized, captivating the attendees with displays of innovation and defense preparedness. In a show of unity and patriotism, the NSS volunteers organized a vibrant Tiranga rally, marching from the college to the Chandimandir Cantonment while raising spirited slogans that echoed their love for the nation.
Cyber Security Awareness Session
The afternoon session shifted focus to digital literacy, with cyber expert Dildeep Singh delivering an informative lecture on cyber security and awareness in the digital age. This segment aimed to equip the youth with essential knowledge to navigate online spaces safely, emphasizing the importance of responsibility in an increasingly connected world. Overall, the programme successfully blended elements of remembrance, education, and technology to inspire the next generation of responsible citizens.
