National Forensic Sciences University Marks Academic Milestone with Grand Convocation Ceremony
The National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) in Gandhinagar hosted a momentous fourth convocation ceremony on Friday evening, celebrating the academic accomplishments of a diverse cohort of students. This landmark event saw a total of 1,799 graduates from 66 specialized forensic science programmes officially receive their degrees, marking a significant achievement in the field of forensic education.
Distinguished Guests Grace the Prestigious Occasion
The ceremony was elevated by the presence of eminent dignitaries. Justice Surya Kant, the Chief Justice of India, served as the chief guest, lending immense prestige to the proceedings. He was joined by guests of honour Harsh Sanghavi, Deputy Chief Minister of Gujarat, and Justice Sunita Agarwal, Chief Justice of the High Court of Gujarat, who collectively underscored the importance of forensic sciences in the justice system.
University Leadership Highlights Global Reach and Future Expansion
Dr. J. M. Vyas, Vice-Chancellor of NFSU, addressed the assembled graduates, faculty, and guests, providing insightful details about the university's impact. He revealed that among the graduating class, 98 were international students, demonstrating NFSU's growing global appeal and its role in fostering international collaboration in forensic sciences.
Dr. Vyas elaborated on the university's comprehensive approach, which includes diverse student profiles and extensive training programmes for in-service officials, enhancing the capabilities of law enforcement and investigative agencies nationwide. He emphasized NFSU's critical role in the modern justice system, where forensic evidence plays a pivotal part in investigations and legal proceedings.
Looking ahead, Dr. Vyas announced ambitious expansion plans for the institution. Currently operating 13 campuses across India and one in Uganda, NFSU is set to establish several more campuses in the near future, aiming to broaden its educational footprint and increase access to forensic science education globally.
Recognition of Academic Excellence with Gold Medals
The convocation concluded on a high note with the recognition of outstanding academic performance. A total of 52 gold medals were conferred upon meritorious students, celebrating their exceptional achievements and dedication to their studies. This award ceremony highlighted the university's commitment to fostering excellence and rewarding hard work in the demanding field of forensic sciences.
