Gorakhpur is poised for a significant advancement in its vocational education landscape. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is scheduled to inaugurate a new government Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in Piprauli on December 9. This marks a major step in enhancing skill development and job-oriented training in the region.
A Strategic Boost for Gorakhpur's Industrial Hub
Constructed with a substantial Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) fund of Rs 16 crore from the Power Grid Corporation of India, the new institute is strategically located. District Magistrate Deepak Meena highlighted that a significant portion of the rapidly expanding Gorakhpur Industrial Development Authority (GIDA) falls under the Piprauli block. As industrial activity accelerates, the demand for a skilled workforce is rising sharply. This ITI is positioned to directly supply trained youth to the growing chain of industries within GIDA.
Details of the New Piprauli ITI
The institute, built in Narkataha village, will be the district's 11th government ITI and the third to operate in a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) mode. It is designed to offer affordable, high-quality technical training in several key trades. The courses offered will include:
- Draftsman (Civil)
- Surveyor
- Computer Hardware & Network Maintenance
- Electrician
- Fitter
This expansion adds to Gorakhpur's existing network of 10 government and 103 private ITIs, spread across locations like Chargaon, Railway Colony, Bansgaon, Chauri Chaura, and Khajni.
Public Welcome and Future Prospects
Local residents have welcomed the new institute, calling it a meaningful gift from the state government. Vinod, a resident of Nagwa village, stated that the ITI would greatly assist youth seeking quality technical training at an affordable cost. Another local, Rakesh Kumar from Banspar, pointed out the wider opportunities, noting that ITI graduates often secure employment abroad. With GIDA's industrial base growing fast, skilled manpower is expected to be in high demand locally as well, creating a direct pathway from training to employment for the youth of Gorakhpur.
