Nagpur University Achieves Major Reduction in Pending Exam Results

In a significant turnaround, Nagpur University has successfully lowered the pendency of its exam results from a staggering 70% to approximately 15% as of Wednesday evening. This improvement comes amid ongoing challenges in the university's examination processes.

Progress in Result Publication and Ongoing Delays

Deputy Registrar Motiram Tadas reported that over 1,050 results have been published, with the remaining around 190 expected to be released within the next five days. The university conducted a total of 1,246 winter examinations between November and February, but the results were delayed due to an agency change, causing significant backlog.

Summer Examinations and Academic Schedule Adjustments

Summer examinations for 50 certificate, diploma, and advanced diploma courses, including 17 regular ones, commenced on April 20. Regular exams for all final-year students, except those in BA, BCom, and BSC programs, are scheduled to start from May 7 and 8. Tadas noted that results for these undergraduate courses have been delayed, prompting the university to provide students with a 15-day preparation gap after the timetable publication.

Additionally, the capital management exam was rescheduled to April 27 after students informed the university about their joining dates starting in May, highlighting efforts to accommodate student needs.

Senate Member Raises Concerns and Proposes Solutions

In a letter, Senate member Manmohan Bajpai urged Vice-Chancellor Manali Kshirsagar to take urgent steps to streamline exams, results, and the academic calendar. Bajpai flagged that nearly 190 winter exam results remain pending, and several declared results contain errors. He also warned that major summer exams are yet to begin, disrupting the 2025-26 academic calendar.

The tight schedule, compounded by supplementary exams, pending results, and upcoming summer exams, poses a risk to the new academic session. Bajpai suggested forming a task force comprising principals, professors, officials, and Senate members to ensure error-free and timely completion of all examination-related processes.

Broader Implications for University Operations

This situation underscores the need for systemic reforms in Nagpur University's examination and result declaration mechanisms. The reduction in pendency is a positive step, but ongoing issues with errors and scheduling highlight deeper operational challenges that require immediate attention to maintain academic integrity and student welfare.
