Kerala Higher Education Minister to Launch Major University Infrastructure Projects

Higher Education Minister R Bindu is set to inaugurate a comprehensive series of infrastructure and academic initiatives at two prominent universities in Kerala this Saturday. The minister will officiate ceremonies at both Cochin University of Science and Technology (Cusat) and Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit (SSUS), marking significant advancements in campus development and educational facilities.

Cusat Campus Expands with New Buildings and Hostel Facilities

At the Thrikkakara campus of Cochin University of Science and Technology, Minister R Bindu will inaugurate the newly constructed additional block located adjacent to the School of Legal Studies. This expansion is designed to accommodate growing student enrollment and enhance the academic environment for legal studies programs.

Furthermore, the minister will formally open a recently added floor at the Department of Instrumentation building, providing additional laboratory and classroom space for engineering and technology students. These infrastructural upgrades are expected to support advanced research and practical training in instrumentation sciences.

In a move to address student accommodation needs, Minister Bindu will lay the foundation stone for new hostel facilities specifically designed for women and international students. This development aims to create a more inclusive and supportive residential environment, fostering diversity and comfort on the Cusat campus.

SSUS Enhances Campus with Cultural and Educational Amenities

Later in the day, the focus will shift to Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, where Minister R Bindu will inaugurate multiple new facilities. The minister will open an amenity centre constructed using plan funds, providing essential services and conveniences for students and staff.

Additionally, an amphitheatre built with Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) support from Cochin International Airport Ltd will be inaugurated. This outdoor venue is expected to host cultural events, performances, and academic gatherings, enriching the university's extracurricular landscape.

Minister Bindu will also inaugurate a dedicated art gallery and exhibition centre, offering a platform for displaying artistic works and cultural heritage. Simultaneously, the Integrated Teacher Education Programme will be officially launched at SSUS, introducing a comprehensive curriculum aimed at training future educators in Sanskrit and related disciplines.

These inaugurations represent a concerted effort by the Kerala government to strengthen higher education infrastructure, ensuring that universities like Cusat and SSUS are equipped with modern facilities to support academic excellence and student welfare.
