In a significant address at the 25th Annual Convocation (Part-2) of Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) held at the Belagavi campus, Jnana Sangama, Governor Thaawar Chand Gehlot emphasized the critical role of technology in solving everyday problems for common people. He underscored that Karnataka has consistently been a pioneer in fostering knowledge, driving innovation, and promoting effective governance across various sectors.

Governor Gehlot highlighted the state's prominent position in key fields such as information technology, biotechnology, space science, and higher education. He noted that these advancements are instrumental in propelling the youth forward as they strive to contribute to a "Developed India." The convocation served as a platform to celebrate academic achievements and inspire future leaders in technology and innovation.
Academic Achievements and Honors
A total of 8,702 students were awarded postgraduate degrees during the ceremony, marking a milestone in their educational journeys. Among these graduates, 96 students distinguished themselves as rank holders, showcasing exceptional academic performance. Additionally, 25 students received gold medals in recognition of their outstanding accomplishments, further highlighting the high standards of excellence at VTU.
Future-Ready Skill Development Initiatives
Rear Admiral Vikram Menon, Flag Officer Commanding of the Karnataka Naval Area (FOK), addressed the gathering and announced significant developments in defence and aerospace education. He revealed plans for the establishment of a 'Centre of Excellence' in Aerospace and Defence, along with proposed MTech programmes in Defence Technology. These initiatives reflect VTU's strong commitment to equipping students with skills that are aligned with future industry demands.
Rear Admiral Menon also expressed full support for VTU in signing agreements with the Naval Base, fostering collaboration between academic institutions and defence sectors. This partnership aims to enhance practical training and research opportunities for students, preparing them for careers in critical national security fields.
