Back in her hometown, her father, Shambhu Nath Keshri, continued operating his modest chemist shop, clinging steadfastly to one quiet conviction. At every family gathering, despite facing skeptical questions and doubts from relatives, he would proclaim with immense pride that his daughter was pursuing studies at the prestigious IIM Indore.
Many relatives remained unconvinced. The idea of sending a daughter hundreds of miles away, investing substantial financial resources in her education, especially amidst a global health crisis, seemed illogical to numerous family members. They appeared utterly helpless, and that image remained indelibly etched in my mind," he recalled. Despite possessing no personal background in farming, Kishan made the courageous decision to step away from his secure job and dedicate himself to research within the agricultural sector. His academic work specifically focused on silk and cocoa farmers, aiming to meticulously analyze the structural challenges plaguing their livelihoods.
"I felt compelled to act after witnessing their plight; I could not simply move on. I was driven to comprehend their problems deeply and contribute in any capacity possible. This represents merely the beginning. I aspire to expand this research and collaborate with state governments to develop more effective systems supporting farmers," Kishan explained.
