The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Bodh Gaya marked a significant academic milestone with its 8th annual convocation ceremony held on Saturday. The prestigious event saw degrees conferred upon a total of 579 students, including the institute's inaugural batch of doctoral scholars, highlighting a year of remarkable growth and achievement.

Convocation Address by NSE CEO Emphasizes Mindful Leadership

Shri Ashishkumar Chauhan, Managing Director and CEO of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) of India, graced the occasion as the chief guest and delivered the convocation address. In his inspiring speech, Chauhan drew attention to Bihar's rich historical legacy while addressing contemporary challenges. He emphasized that in today's era of microsecond-driven financial markets and global disruptions, the ability to make mindful and well-considered decisions has become increasingly critical for future leaders.

Breakdown of Degrees Awarded Across Programs

The convocation celebrated graduates from diverse management programs. Of the total 579 recipients, 328 students received traditional MBA degrees, while 86 were awarded MBA in Digital Business Management (MBA-DBM). Additionally, 101 graduates earned MBA in Hospital and Healthcare Management (MBA-HHM), and 60 students completed their BBA under the Integrated Programme in Management (IPM). Most notably, four scholars were conferred with PhD degrees, marking the first-ever doctoral convocation in the institute's history.

Institute Reports Unprecedented Growth and Global Expansion

The convocation was formally declared open virtually by L Ramkumar, chairperson-in-charge of the board of governors. IIM Bodh Gaya director Vinita S Sahay presented the institute's comprehensive annual report, describing the 2025–26 academic year as a period of unprecedented academic and institutional growth.

Dr. Sahay highlighted the institute's expanding global footprint, revealing partnerships with 43 international institutions across Europe, the United States, and Asia. These collaborations promote student exchange programs, joint research initiatives, and collaborative academic programs, significantly enhancing the institute's international presence.

Strong Placement Outcomes with Diverse Recruiter Participation

The director also reported exceptional placement outcomes for the graduating class. A total of 409 students secured final job offers through campus recruitment, with more than 180 companies participating in the placement process. This included over 100 first-time recruiters, indicating growing industry recognition of IIM Bodh Gaya's talent pool.

Consulting, IT services, and analytics emerged as the top hiring sectors with more than 130 offers, closely followed by Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance (BFSI) with 110 offers. The highest domestic compensation package reached Rs 30 lakh per annum, while international offers peaked at Rs 45.63 lakh per annum.

Major Recruiters Spanning Multiple Industries

Prominent organizations that participated in the placement drive included global consulting giants like Accenture, Deloitte, EY, and PwC. Technology leaders such as Infosys, Capgemini, Cognizant, and SAP Labs were also active recruiters. The financial sector was well-represented by Axis Bank, HSBC India, ICICI Bank, NSE, and BSE.

Other notable recruiters came from diverse industries including Tata Power, Bharat Electronics Limited, Volvo Eicher, Piramal Foundation, Narayana Health, and the William J Clinton Foundation, demonstrating the wide-ranging appeal of IIM Bodh Gaya graduates across sectors.

A Year of Expansion and Strengthened Position

Institute officials characterized the convocation as reflecting a year of substantial expansion marked by record batch sizes, increased recruiter participation, first-time international placements, and deeper global integration. These achievements have further strengthened IIM Bodh Gaya's position among emerging management institutions in India, solidifying its reputation for academic excellence and industry relevance.
