Gurugram University Inaugurates 'Mano Sukoon Clinic' for Comprehensive Mental Health Support

In a significant step toward addressing growing psychological challenges, Gurugram University launched a dedicated mental health clinic named 'Mano Sukoon Clinic' on Monday. The inauguration took place during the university's 'Samanvay 2026' event, marking a commitment to holistic well-being beyond academic pursuits.

Affordable Services for Students and General Public

The clinic is set to commence operations next week, extending its services not only to university students but also to the wider community. To ensure accessibility, officials have announced that nominal charges will be applied, making professional mental health care affordable for all societal segments.

A licensed clinical psychologist will be recruited externally to staff the clinic, working alongside two psychiatrists. This team will provide a range of evidence-based treatments, including:

  • Individual counselling sessions
  • Therapy for stress, anxiety, and depression
  • Guidance for families facing emotional or behavioural issues
  • Psychological assessments and testing
  • Referral services when necessary

Collaborative Establishment and Outreach Initiatives

The clinic was established through a collaborative effort involving the university's Department of Psychology, the Institute of Human Behaviour and Allied Sciences (IHBAS), and the Gurugram Police. This partnership aims to integrate research with practical community needs.

Future plans include outreach programs in nearby schools and communities to raise awareness about mental well-being and combat the stigma often associated with seeking psychological help. These initiatives will feature workshops and awareness campaigns designed to foster emotional resilience and open dialogue.

University Leadership Emphasizes Social Responsibility

Vice Chancellor Dr. Sanjay Kaushik highlighted the importance of prioritizing mental health, noting the rising psychological challenges across various age groups. "Universities must move beyond academics and contribute to society by connecting research with real-life needs," he stated. "Mano Sukoon Clinic reflects our commitment to community engagement and social responsibility, creating a supportive environment for those in need."

Through regular counselling, workshops, and awareness programs, the clinic aims to promote a culture of mental health awareness, encouraging individuals to seek professional support without hesitation. This initiative underscores Gurugram University's proactive approach to addressing contemporary societal issues through education and service.
