Gujarat Budget: Rs 152 Crore for LDCE Research Park, Hostels

Gujarat Government Sanctions Rs 152 Crore for Major Infrastructure Boost at LD College of Engineering

In a significant move to enhance educational infrastructure, the Gujarat government has allocated a total budget of Rs 152 crore for the development of major facilities at LD College of Engineering (LDCE), the largest engineering college in the state. This announcement was made as part of the state budget, with a focus on addressing the needs of nearly 7,000 students enrolled at the institution.

State-of-the-Art Research Park Receives Rs 51 Crore in First Phase

Out of the total allocation, Rs 51 crore has been earmarked in the initial phase for the establishment of an advanced research park. This marks the first time in Gujarat that such a substantial amount has been sanctioned for a research park at a government engineering college. The park will be developed across seven key areas: computer and ICT, automation and robotics, electronics and semiconductor, chemical engineering, finance technology, applied sciences, and Kawach cyber security education.

The research park will be constructed within the college campus, spanning an area of approximately 2,000 to 3,000 square meters. It will feature advanced laboratories equipped with modern technology, enabling students to undertake cutting-edge research in fields such as artificial intelligence and robotics. This initiative aims to bridge the gap between industry and academia, enhancing direct interaction with industries and improving employment opportunities for students. To make way for the new facility, five old blocks on the campus have been approved for demolition.

Expansion of Hostel Facilities with Rs 51 Crore Allocation

In addition to the research park, Rs 51 crore has been allocated for the construction of two new hostel blocks. Currently, hostel facilities are available for 1,200 students. Upon completion, the accommodation capacity will increase to 3,200 students, significantly improving living conditions and supporting the growing student population.

Upgradation of Sports and Gymkhana Facilities with Rs 29 Crore

A further Rs 29 crore has been sanctioned for upgrading the college gymkhana and sports facilities. This includes arrangements for sports and yoga, ensuring the holistic development of students alongside their academic pursuits. The upgrades are designed to promote physical well-being and extracurricular engagement, fostering a balanced educational environment.

Overall, this comprehensive budget allocation underscores the Gujarat government's commitment to advancing engineering education and infrastructure, positioning LDCE as a hub for innovation and student development.
