BHU NCC Cadets Undergo Intensive Kayaking Training at Historic Assi Ghat
The 7 UP Naval Unit NCC of Banaras Hindu University (BHU) successfully organized a comprehensive kayaking training session at the iconic Assi Ghat in Varanasi on Tuesday. This significant program was conducted under the auspices of NCC Group Headquarters Varanasi 'A', specifically designed for 60 dedicated cadets from both the Navy and Army wings of the university's NCC contingent.
Mastering River Navigation Techniques
The cadets received thorough instruction in both fundamental and advanced kayaking skills during the day-long training. The curriculum included essential paddle handling techniques, methods for maintaining balance in flowing water currents, and practical river navigation strategies. The expansive waters near Assi Ghat provided an ideal training ground, allowing cadets to apply their learning in real river conditions.
This hands-on exercise significantly enhanced the participants' confidence levels, courage, and teamwork spirit, as they navigated the challenging aquatic environment under expert supervision.
Expert Leadership and Safety Coordination
The training was conducted under the capable leadership of Commanding Officer Commander Nikhil Vaish, who oversaw all aspects of the program. Critical coordination was provided by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the Varanasi Municipal Corporation (VMC), ensuring all safety protocols were meticulously followed.
The NDRF team played a particularly vital role in implementing comprehensive water safety arrangements throughout the training session, including emergency response preparedness and continuous monitoring of river conditions.

The event was honored by the presence of ANO Lieutenant Commander Praveen Prakash and Second Officer Yogesh Kumar of 7 Naval NCC, who observed the cadets' progress and provided valuable feedback.
