Gorakhpur Institutions Launch Ambitious Health-Tech Collaboration
In Gorakhpur, two leading educational institutions have joined forces to tackle pressing healthcare challenges. Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) and BRD Medical College signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) this week. This partnership marks a bold move to blend engineering expertise with medical sciences.
A 90-Day Roadmap for High-Impact Projects
Unlike typical academic agreements, this collaboration sets a tight timeline. The institutions committed to a 90-day roadmap for rolling out significant projects. They aim to deliver tangible results quickly in the health-tech sector.
Prof Raj Kishore Singh from BRD Medical College explained the core objective. The agreement seeks to harness advanced technologies like artificial intelligence, bio-printing, and medical device engineering. These tools will address emerging public health issues effectively.
Key Initiatives Under the MoU
The partnership outlines several groundbreaking initiatives. First, it focuses on bio-printing and stem cell-based product development. This work targets chronic disease management, offering new hope for patients.
Second, the collaboration will develop AI-driven tools for mental health assessment. These tools aim to prevent suicide among students, a critical concern in educational settings.
Third, the institutions plan rapid design and clinical validation of medical devices. They will adhere to ISO 14155:2020 standards, ensuring safety and efficacy.
Expanding Academic and Research Opportunities
The MoU introduces a new PhD programme in pharmacotherapeutics. Five research scholars will benefit from this initiative. They will use combined facilities at BRD Pharmacy College and the Multidisciplinary Research Unit (MRU).
Additionally, the agreement includes joint hackathons and faculty development programmes. Student exchange and collaborative internships form part of the plan. These efforts aim to build a robust health-tech ecosystem in the region.
Signing Ceremony and Key Participants
AKTU vice-chancellor Prof JP Pandey and BRD Medical College principal Prof Ram Kumar Jaiswal signed the MoU. Prof Raj Kishore Singh attended as the nodal officer for MRU, CTU, AI-Health and Innovation Cell at BRD Medical College.
Senior officials from both institutions witnessed the ceremony. Finance officer AKTU Keshav Singh and dean RDIC Prof Bhavesh Kumar Chauhan were among the attendees. Their presence underscored the importance of this collaborative effort.
This partnership promises to accelerate innovation in healthcare. By merging technical and medical strengths, Gorakhpur positions itself at the forefront of health-tech research.
