Ranchi University's Sporting and Digital Initiatives

In other significant developments in the state's educational sphere, Ranchi University (RU) is currently hosting a major sporting event. The university is organizing the East Zone Inter-University Football Tournament (men) at the Birsa Munda Football Stadium. A massive 52 teams from various states are competing in the tournament, which commenced on Monday and will conclude on January 11. Inaugurating the event, RU Vice-Chancellor D K Singh encouraged participants to embrace a true sporting spirit, highlighting that the temperament cultivated through sports is invaluable in life.

Furthermore, Ranchi University has taken a decisive step towards enhancing digital skills among its students. On Tuesday, the university signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT). This partnership aims to provide comprehensive digital literacy training to students at a nominal fee. Vice-Chancellor D K Singh announced that several dedicated centres would be established across its affiliated colleges to facilitate this training. These centres will also host a range of other activities, including online skill training courses, career guidance sessions, faculty development programmes, seminars, guest lectures, and workshops.

IIM Ranchi Nurtures Future Changemakers

Leadership and social responsibility took centre stage at the Indian Institute of Management, Ranchi (IIM-R), which recently concluded the fourth edition of its Young Changemakers Programme (YCP 4.0). This unique initiative is designed to identify and nurture socially conscious young leaders from schools who possess an entrepreneurial mindset and a deep sense of empathy for rural India.

The programme involved a diverse set of activities aimed at holistic development. Participants undertook a visit to Lohajimi village in Khunti district, gaining firsthand exposure to rural life. The curriculum was designed to strengthen analytical and collaborative skills through a mock panchayat exercise and final design-thinking sessions. These sessions enabled the young participants to refine their innovative ideas into feasible, practical solutions for societal challenges. The closing ceremony was graced by the presence of Minister of State for Defence, Sanjay Seth, and IIM Ranchi Director Deepak Kumar Srivastava, among other dignitaries.

These concurrent events highlight a dynamic period for Jharkhand's youth and educational institutions, focusing on national representation, sportsmanship, digital empowerment, and leadership development.
