Time is running out for aspirants seeking a career in India's central security forces. The online application window for the SSC GD Constable 2026 recruitment drive will close today, marking the absolute last chance for candidates to submit their forms. The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is conducting this massive recruitment to fill a total of 25,487 vacancies for General Duty Constable positions.

Vacancy Breakdown and Eligibility Criteria

The recruitment is for posts in several prestigious forces, including the Border Security Force (BSF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Assam Rifles, and the Secretariat Security Force (SSF). Out of the total vacancies, 23,467 posts are for male candidates and 2,020 are for female candidates. A 10% reservation is applicable for ex-servicemen in certain posts.

The basic educational requirement is a pass in the 10th class or Matriculation from any recognized board. Candidates must be between 18 and 23 years of age as of January 1, 2026. The government's standard rules for age relaxation will be applicable for candidates belonging to reserved categories.

Step-by-Step Application Process and Fees

Prospective applicants must act swiftly. The first step is to complete the mandatory One-Time Registration (OTR) on the SSC's official website, ssc.gov.in. It is crucial to note that OTR completed on the old portal (ssc.nic.in) is not valid for this application.

After OTR, candidates should log in and access the dedicated SSC GD Constable 2026 application link. The form must be filled with accurate details, followed by the upload of a recent photograph and a scanned signature in the specified format. An application fee of Rs. 100 is required for General, OBC, and EWS category candidates. However, female candidates and those from SC and ST categories are exempt from paying any fee. Payment can be made via UPI, Net Banking, or debit/credit cards.

Selection Stages and Important Dates

The selection process for SSC GD Constable is multi-layered and rigorous. It comprises a Computer Based Examination (CBE), followed by Physical Efficiency Test (PET), Physical Standard Test (PST), a thorough medical examination, and finally, document verification. The CBE will consist of 80 questions, and there will be a negative marking scheme for incorrect answers. The examination is scheduled to be conducted between February and April 2026.

Candidates who submit their forms today are strongly advised to save and print a final copy for their records. Furthermore, the SSC has provided a correction window from January 8 to 10, 2026, for applicants to rectify any inadvertent errors in their submitted forms.

With the portal likely to experience heavy traffic on the closing day, applicants are urged not to wait until the final hours to avoid last-minute technical glitches and ensure a smooth submission process.
