JEE Main 2026 Session 2 Answer Key Release Imminent by NTA
The National Testing Agency (NTA) is poised to release the highly anticipated answer key for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2026 Session 2 in the coming days. This critical development follows the successful completion of the computer-based test, which was conducted from April 2 to April 8, 2026, across numerous centers nationwide and internationally.
Massive Student Participation and Exam Details
A staggering total of over 11 lakh students appeared for both Paper 1 and Paper 2 during this session. The NTA has already made the question papers publicly available on April 9, 2026, setting the stage for the expected issuance of the provisional answer key on April 11, 2026.
Paper 1 – B.E./B.Tech: This segment witnessed approximately 11.06 lakh registered candidates, including an impressive 4,229 international applicants. The examination recorded a robust attendance rate of around 93 percent, with nearly 97 percent of candidates successfully completing Aadhaar authentication procedures.
Paper 2 – B.Arch./B.Planning: Domestic candidates accounted for nearly 54,953 registrations, while 270 international candidates participated in this paper. The overall attendance percentage stood at 73 percent, maintaining the high Aadhaar authentication rate of 97 percent observed across both papers.
Application Timeline and Admit Card Distribution
The application window for JEE Main 2026 Session 2 was open from February 1 to February 25, 2026. In response to candidate requests, an additional application phase was conducted on March 12 and 13, 2026. Admit cards were systematically issued in two batches on March 29, 2026, and April 1, 2026, ensuring all registered candidates received their examination credentials promptly.
Examination Management and Emergency Protocols
The NTA demonstrated exceptional organizational capabilities through meticulous planning, strategic technology utilization, and effective collaboration with governmental bodies at both national and state levels. The agency's proactive approach was particularly evident in handling international contingencies.
For candidates in certain Middle Eastern countries facing disruptions, the NTA coordinated with Indian missions overseas to facilitate examination rescheduling and location changes. A specific power interruption at the Riyadh Centre on April 5, 2026, prompted the rescheduling of examinations to April 6 and 8, 2026.
Despite internet restrictions in Manipur, examinations proceeded as scheduled. Furthermore, the NTA carefully coordinated timings with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to avoid conflicts with Class XII examinations, ensuring minimal disruption for students appearing for multiple crucial tests.
Examination Schedule and Result Timeline
Following the public release of all shift question papers on April 9, 2026, candidates can expect the provisional answer key for Paper 1, along with recorded responses, to be published on April 11, 2026. A challenge window will subsequently open, allowing candidates to raise objections at a fee of INR 200 per question.
The final results are anticipated to be declared on April 20, 2026. These results will be based on the best performance achieved by candidates in either session of JEE Main 2026. All official announcements and updates will be accessible through the NTA website, with candidates strongly advised to monitor subsequent notifications regularly.
Stakeholder Appreciation and Transparency Measures
In an official press release published on its website, the NTA extended gratitude to numerous stakeholders who contributed to the examination's smooth conduct. This includes state governments, district administrations, law enforcement organizations, examination functionaries, technology partners, and parents.
The agency particularly acknowledged the cooperation of candidates who diligently adhered to examination protocols at centers both within India and abroad. These transparency measures and stakeholder engagements underscore the NTA's commitment to maintaining the integrity and credibility of one of India's most prestigious engineering entrance examinations.
