The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has commenced the registration process for the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) scheduled for September 2026. Eligible candidates can submit their applications online through the official website, ctet.nic.in.

According to the official notification, the online application process began on May 11, 2026, and will remain open until June 10, 2026, up to 11:59 PM. Candidates are advised to complete their applications within this period.

CTET is conducted for individuals aspiring to become teachers for Classes 1 to 8 in central government schools, including Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVS), Navodaya Vidyalayas (NVS), and schools affiliated with CBSE.

How to Apply for CTET September 2026

Candidates can follow these steps to complete the registration process:

  • Visit the official website: ctet.nic.in
  • Click on the “Apply Online” link available on the homepage
  • Fill in the required registration details
  • Complete the application form carefully
  • Upload scanned photograph and signature in the prescribed format
  • Pay the application fee online
  • Submit the form and download the confirmation page for future reference

CTET September 2026 Application Fee

The application fee structure is as follows:

  • General/OBC (NCL): Rs 1,000 for only Paper I or II, Rs 1,200 for both papers
  • SC/ST/Differently Abled Person: Rs 500 for only Paper I or II, Rs 600 for both papers

GST charges will be applicable separately.

CTET September 2026 Exam Pattern

CTET will be conducted in offline mode using OMR sheets. The examination includes two papers:

  • Paper I: For candidates who wish to teach Classes 1 to 5
  • Paper II: For candidates aiming to teach Classes 6 to 8

Both papers contain 150 multiple-choice questions carrying 150 marks each. The duration of each paper is two-and-a-half hours. The main question paper will be bilingual in Hindi and English.

CTET Certificate Validity

The CTET qualifying certificate is valid for a lifetime for all categories. There is no restriction on the number of attempts. Candidates who have already qualified CTET can appear again to improve their scores.

Important Details for Candidates

CBSE has informed that candidates will not be allowed to choose their examination city while filling the application form. The exam city and examination date will be allotted randomly by the board.

Candidates are also advised to carefully check the eligibility criteria before applying, as eligibility will be verified later by the recruiting authority.

The board will release the CTET September 2026 admit card on the official website before the examination. Candidates can download it using their login credentials.
