Kochi: As the window for taking admissions for Class XI (Plus One) following the first allotment concluded on Wednesday, science and commerce saw a higher proportion of student admissions in the district. In the first allotment admission, 19,038 students were included, although 34,861 students applied in the district. A total of 23,598 seats is available for single window admission, including additional seats for disabled students.

Admission Trends at Key Schools

At Govt Girls Higher Secondary School, there are 420 total strengths in which 101 students have taken permanent admissions, and several others have taken temporary admissions. According to school principal Mini Ram, the majority of students took admissions in the commerce stream. “Among the students who have taken permanent admissions, nearly 60 students took admissions in the commerce stream,” Ram said.

Meanwhile, at Govt Higher Secondary School Edappally, the majority of the students took admission in the science stream. “In the 120 seats available for science stream, 90 students have taken admissions. This is followed by commerce and humanities streams,” said school principal Sankaranarayanan A.

Humanities Stream Least Popular

School officials noted that the humanities stream had the least number of applicants. In the first allotment, 4,360 students who applied were from districts outside Ernakulam.

Admission Process Details

According to officials, those who get the first option will have to pay the fee and get permanent admission. Those who get allotment in other options can get admission either temporarily or permanently as per their choice. There is no fee for temporary admission. Those who get provisional admission can cancel some of the higher options they selected, if necessary. The application for this should be submitted to the school where they get admission. Those who do not get provisional admission despite getting allotment will not be considered in subsequent allotments.

Second Allotment Result

The Plus One second allotment result will be published on June 22.
