Rs 60 Crore Girls' PU College in Koppal Opens May 3

A state-of-the-art residential Pre-University college for girls, established under the guidance of Abhinava Gavisiddheshwara Swami of Gavi Mutt, will be inaugurated on May 3 near Kolur-Katralli in Koppal taluk, Karnataka. The institution, built at a cost of Rs 60 crore on a sprawling 48-acre campus, aims to provide quality education to rural and economically weaker students without charging any donations.

Academic Programs and Admission

The Gurukul will commence operations in the 2026–27 academic year, offering Science (PCMB) and Arts (HEGP) streams. Admissions are open for first-year PUC, with integrated coaching for competitive examinations. Science students will receive coaching for JEE, NEET, CET, and ICAR, while arts students will be prepared for CSE, CLAT, and CUET.

Eligibility criteria require applicants to be Karnataka residents who have passed SSLC in 2026 with at least 60% marks. Science aspirants must have secured a minimum of 60% in Mathematics and English, while arts candidates need 60% in Social Science and English. Selection will be based on a 120-minute entrance test covering class 9 and 10 syllabus, followed by an interview.

Capacity and Expansion Plans

In the first phase, the Gurukul will admit 600 girl students, with plans to expand capacity to 2,000 students. Separate long-term coaching streams for science students are also proposed. Education and boarding will be free, with students required to pay only for food expenses.

Abhinava Gavisiddheshwara Swamiji stated, "Our aim is to ensure that rural and poor students are not denied quality education due to their inability to pay hefty donations. High-tech education and competitive exam coaching must reach such students, especially girls."

Campus Facilities

The campus features a high-tech academic block with 14 classrooms, four laboratories, smart classrooms, and a digital library. Residential facilities include multiple dormitories, supervisor rooms, and first-aid units. A modern dining hall with automated cooking systems, capable of serving 1,600 students at a time, has also been constructed.

Sports and Environmental Initiatives

The campus includes a six-acre sports complex with a 400-meter athletics track and facilities for volleyball, football, and kho-kho, along with yoga training. Environmental initiatives include plantation of 22,000 trees under the Miyawaki model, creation of a two-acre lake, and cultivation of fruit-bearing and flowering plants.

The project builds on the Mutt's Anna-Akshara-Dasoha tradition, focusing on ensuring that meritorious rural girls are not kept out of higher education and competitive examinations due to financial constraints.
