The Punjab Subordinate Services Selection Board (PSSSB) has officially launched a major recruitment drive for the year 2026, offering a significant opportunity for engineering professionals in the state. The board has issued notifications to fill a total of 157 vacancies for the post of Junior Engineer (JE). The application window, which has been extended, will now remain open until January 20, 2026.

Vacancy Details and Eligibility Criteria

This recruitment is being conducted through two separate advertisements: Advt. 15/2025 and Advt. 16/2025. The 157 available positions are distributed across three core engineering disciplines, highlighting a strong demand for civil engineers in particular.

The detailed vacancy breakdown is as follows:

  • Civil Engineering: 147 posts
  • Mechanical Engineering: 9 posts
  • Electrical Engineering: 1 post

To be eligible, candidates must possess a diploma or a degree in the relevant engineering stream from a recognized institution. The age limit for applicants is between 18 and 37 years. However, the Punjab government's rules provide for standard age relaxation for candidates belonging to reserved categories such as SC, BC, and others.

Application Process, Fee, and Selection

Prospective candidates must submit their applications exclusively through the official PSSSB website. It is crucial to upload all required documents, certificates, and photographs correctly during the online application process. The deadline for fee payment has also been extended in line with the new application closure date.

The application fee structure is category-dependent:

  • General and Other Categories: ₹1,500
  • SC / BC candidates (domiciled in Punjab only): ₹750
  • Ex-Servicemen, EWS, PWD, LDESM (Punjab domicile): ₹500

The selection of candidates will be a two-stage process. The first stage is a written examination of 120 marks to be completed in 2 hours. The exam pattern includes negative marking, with 0.25 marks deducted for every incorrect answer. The paper is divided into two sections: 80 marks for technical engineering questions and 40 marks for General Knowledge, Current Affairs, Punjab History, Reasoning, English, Punjabi, and Information & Communication Technology. Candidates who qualify in the written test will proceed to the second stage: document verification.
