Himachal Pradesh Plans Skill University to Enhance Youth Employability
The Himachal Pradesh government is planning to establish a skill university in the state to equip youth with skills that secure better jobs, as announced by Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani. He made the statement while addressing a job fair at Government Polytechnic College in Hamirpur on June 28, 2026.
Minister Advises Youth on Career Growth
Dharmani advised young attendees to view their first job in the corporate sector as a training opportunity and to continuously upgrade their skills. He emphasized that this approach would enhance their careers and enable them to achieve success. The job fair was organized by CT University in collaboration with Government Polytechnic College.
Government Initiatives for Employment
The state government is continuously striving to provide better employment opportunities in both the government and private sectors, Dharmani said. To achieve this, mega job fairs are being organized alongside initiatives such as campus interviews, the Start-up Scheme, the Rajiv Gandhi Self-Employment Scheme, and skill development programmes. He added that new job-oriented courses are being introduced in educational institutions, and a skill university is also being established.
The minister noted that the Chief Minister reviews all these schemes in every Cabinet meeting to ensure their implementation. Dharmani highlighted that this was the fifth such event in Himachal Pradesh by CT University, and the presence of 32 major corporate companies presented a significant opportunity for the youth.
