Shimla: Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Monday emphasized that students should concentrate on developing skills, confidence, and capability in addition to achieving good marks. While interacting with students at the newly upgraded CBSE Government Senior Secondary School in Chhota Shimla, the same institution where he completed his Class 10 education, Sukhu reiterated the state government's commitment to transformative reforms in the education sector.
Anti-Drug Campaign and Student Participation
Sukhu urged the youth to actively support the anti-drug campaign by reporting traffickers and spreading awareness. He encouraged senior students to participate in the Anti-Chitta Rally scheduled for June 5 in Shimla. The Chief Minister highlighted the importance of community involvement in combating drug abuse.
Interactive Session with Students
During an interactive session, students raised questions about the CBSE system, career opportunities, and the CM's personal experiences. Responding to their queries, Sukhu said his visit aimed to understand shortcomings in the education system directly from students to make necessary improvements effectively. A student informed the CM that the school currently lacks a Physics teacher and has only one Political Science teacher. In response, Sukhu assured that all vacant posts in the newly converted CBSE school would be filled before June 30. He also announced that students would now have access to a wider range of subjects under the CBSE curriculum.
Government's Vision for Education
Sukhu stated that the government is working towards making government schools among the best in the country and ensuring quality education for students in public institutions. He added that teachers in government schools are highly qualified, hardworking, and selected through competitive examinations. The Chief Minister reiterated the government's dedication to bridging gaps in infrastructure and staffing to provide a conducive learning environment.
