DMK Launches Career Guidance Helpdesk for Class XII Students

CHENNAI: Chief Minister M K Stalin on Saturday launched a career guidance helpdesk for students who have completed Class XII. The DMK students' wing has been entrusted with the task of helping students with career guidance.

After Stalin launched the help desk, DMK students' wing secretary Veeramani Jayakumar told reporters, “The help desk will help students choose the best course. Three DMK students' wing functionaries will be appointed for every district to aid students seeking help in career guidance.” Students will receive details of courses available in colleges, information about campus interviews, and trending courses, she said.

“Our chief minister has been insisting on the importance of education and has been saying that education is our only property that cannot be stolen.” Veeramani also criticized youth who supported TVK president Vijay, calling them ‘tharkuris’ (illiterates). “Tamil Nadu was believed to be a knowledgeable society, but now a section of youth in the state have become ‘tharkuris’. We have to streamline them too, and so we have taken up this measure. Vijay should be thanked for this because only after his advent into politics did we come to know that there are youth who vote merely for skin colour,” Veeramani said.

When asked whether parties like DMK and left parties failed to groom youth in their college days, Veeramani said Vijay has helped them identify youth, and this will help them take corrective measures. Asked whether DMK had distanced itself from students, she said students were with them but a section had left. “We will reform them and make them aware,” Veeramani added.
