CM Conrad Sangma Attends Skillerate 2026 in Tura

Shillong: Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Thursday attended the Skillerate 2026 event in Tura, reaffirming the state government's commitment to strengthening skill development, employment generation, and entrepreneurship opportunities for the youth of Meghalaya.

Work Orders Distributed

During the event, a total of 34 work orders were distributed under two key initiatives: Skills Meghalaya and Supporting Human Capital Development in Meghalaya (SHCDM). These work orders aim to provide training to 4,830 youths, with a combined value of Rs 16,59,56,334.

Under Skills Meghalaya, 28 work orders covering 3,930 trainees were distributed, amounting to Rs 12,04,35,044. Under SHCDM, six work orders covering 900 trainees were distributed, amounting to Rs 4,55,21,290.

Cost per Trainee

The average cost per trainee stands at Rs 30,645 under Skills Meghalaya, Rs 50,579 under SHCDM, and Rs 34,359 overall. This investment underscores the government's focus on quality training programs.

Support for Entrepreneurship

In addition to training, start-up tools worth Rs 44,72,287 were distributed to 798 beneficiaries across multiple trades and livelihood sectors. These tools are intended to support entrepreneurship and self-employment initiatives, enabling youth to start their own ventures.

Organizers

The programme was organized by the state Department of Labour, Employment & Skill Development, in collaboration with the CM Skills Mission and the Meghalaya State Skill Development Society.

This event marks a significant step in the state's efforts to empower its youth through skill development and employment opportunities, aligning with the broader vision of economic growth and self-reliance.
