The School of Technology at Assam Don Bosco University (ADBU) recently organized a career counselling seminar titled "Exploring Career Opportunities, Higher Education, and Employability Skills." The event was jointly conducted by the Department of Mechanical Engineering and the university's Career Guidance Cell.
Key Highlights of the Seminar
The session was led by Buljit Buragohain, Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Chairperson of the Career Guidance Cell. He provided an overview of diverse career options available to engineering graduates. Buragohain discussed competitive examinations such as the Engineering Services Examination (ESE) and the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), explaining their significance and offering strategies for effective preparation.
Importance of Practical Exposure
He emphasized the importance of internships and project work during graduation for gaining practical exposure, strengthening professional skills, and enhancing employability. Students were advised to select postgraduate programmes that align with their interests, aptitude, and long-term goals.
