In a story of extraordinary grit and perseverance, a 28-year-old man from Bhavnagar has finally achieved his dream of joining the Gujarat police force after a grueling eight-year journey that involved 35 attempts at various competitive exams. Satyapalsinh Jadeja's long-awaited moment arrived on Tuesday when he received his appointment letter for the post of police constable in Gandhinagar.
A Dream Realized Amidst Thousands
The appointment ceremony was a grand affair, held in the presence of the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister of Gujarat. Jadeja was one of 11,607 newly appointed constables who received their letters, marking the culmination of a personal saga of relentless effort. A mathematics graduate from Bhavnagar University, Jadeja's path was anything but straightforward.
"Being jobless until 28, even after graduating, was not easy," Jadeja revealed in an interview. He credited his family, especially his parents and elder brother, for their unwavering support which kept him anchored to his goal. Hailing from a modest background, his father runs a local watch shop and his brother is a civil engineer. Notably, no one in his extended family has ever held a government job, making his achievement a significant milestone.
The Long Road of Attempts and Learnings
Jadeja's quest began in 2018 when he started preparing at community coaching classes with friends. Over the years, as his friends moved on to businesses and other careers, he remained steadfast. His journey was a marathon of applications, spanning exams for the post of police constable, sub-inspector, deputy section officer, mamlatdar, talati, and forest department roles.
He openly shared that initial setbacks often came from underestimating the physical test, which led to three failed constable exam attempts and two unsuccessful forest exam tries. The disruptive period of the Covid-19 pandemic added another layer of challenge, a time when many aspirants abandoned their dreams. "Every time I failed, I worked on my weaknesses and started again," Jadeja stated, highlighting his resilient mindset.
Focus and Future Aspirations
The turning point in his latest and successful constable exam attempt was a strategic shift. He focused intensely on the physical test and cleared it, finally overcoming the hurdle that had tripped him up before. But Jadeja's ambitions don't stop here. He is currently awaiting the results of the Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) exam and also hopes to perform well in the Revenue Talati exams, aiming for an even higher position within the system.
