UP Board Rolls Out Stringent Measures for Upcoming High School and Intermediate Examinations
In a decisive move to uphold the integrity of the upcoming board examinations, the Uttar Pradesh Secondary Board has issued a comprehensive set of strict instructions aimed at ensuring a smooth and transparent conduct of the tests. The board exams for High School and Intermediate are scheduled to commence from February 18, and these new guidelines are designed to fortify supervision and eliminate any potential irregularities at examination centers across the state.
Mandatory Invigilation Duties for Government School Teachers
Under the newly introduced regulations, all teachers employed in government and government-aided secondary schools will be required to perform a minimum of 20 shifts of invigilation duty throughout the examination period. This mandate is a strategic effort to bolster on-ground monitoring and deter any instances of malpractice. By involving a larger pool of educators in the invigilation process, the board aims to enhance vigilance and maintain the sanctity of the examination environment.
Cross-Deputation to Ensure Neutrality at Private Centers
For privately managed, unaided schools that have been designated as examination centers, the board has directed that 50% of the invigilation and administrative staff must be deputed from government and aided institutions. This cross-deputation policy is specifically intended to ensure neutrality and significantly reduce the possibility of misconduct at these centers. By integrating staff from different educational backgrounds, the board seeks to create a balanced and impartial supervisory framework.
Strict Accountability and Enhanced Monitoring Protocols
UP Board Secretary Bhagwati Singh has issued detailed instructions to all joint directors of education and district inspectors of schools, emphasizing that any form of negligence, deliberate absence, or dereliction of duty by officials appointed as center superintendents or invigilators will result in strict disciplinary and legal action. To further tighten monitoring, the board has made it mandatory to deploy two invigilators in every examination room, ensuring closer and more effective supervision of examinees.
Secure Handling and Storage of Question Papers
Special emphasis has been placed on the secure handling of question papers to prevent leaks, tampering, or mismanagement of confidential material. Each examination center is instructed to arrange a strong room equipped with four double-lock iron cupboards. According to the guidelines, two of these cupboards will be utilized for the safe storage of the main question paper sets for both examination shifts. A third cupboard is reserved for leftover question papers, while the fourth will store reserve sets, thereby creating a multi-layered security system.
Commitment to Fair and Transparent Examinations
"All measures, whether they have been followed in previous exams or are being newly introduced, are integral components of the board's broader effort to conduct fair, transparent, and malpractice-free examinations," stated Bhagwati Singh. He further added that district-level authorities have been instructed to closely monitor compliance, ensuring that all examination centers are fully prepared well in advance of the exams' commencement.
