Ramgarh: Acting on the instruction of deputy commissioner (DC) Rituraj, the salaries of 12 school headmasters were withheld on Saturday over poor results of their students in the Class 10 board exams, the results of which were recently declared by the Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC), district education officer Neelum Kumari said.
In addition, 64 schools were served show-cause notices and asked to submit clarification by Monday after the DC compared the results of government schools with those of CBSE-affiliated private and public schools in Ramgarh, she added.
There are 74 government upgraded high schools and plus two schools in the district, of which 64 failed to achieve 100 percent results, and their performance was found to be between 68 percent and 99 percent.
The district administration has taken a strict stance to improve the quality of education. The DC emphasized that accountability must be fixed for poor academic performance. The move is expected to push schools to work harder and ensure better outcomes in future examinations.
Parents and local residents have welcomed the decision, hoping it will lead to improved teaching standards. The education department will monitor the progress of these schools closely and take further action if necessary.
