The National Testing Agency (NTA) announced that the NEET UG 2026 examination recorded an impressive attendance rate of nearly 97% nationwide. Out of over 24.5 lakh registered candidates, more than 23.7 lakh appeared for the test, reflecting a high level of participation and preparedness among aspirants.
Examination Conducted Smoothly Across Centers
The NTA conducted the exam across 4,000 centers in 500 cities, including 14 centers abroad. Strict security measures were implemented, including biometric verification and CCTV surveillance, to ensure the integrity of the examination process. No major irregularities were reported from any center, according to officials.
Increased Registration and Attendance
This year witnessed a significant rise in registrations compared to previous years, with a 12% increase over NEET UG 2025. The attendance rate also improved by 2 percentage points, indicating growing confidence in the examination system. The NTA attributed the smooth conduct to meticulous planning and coordination with state authorities.
Student Reactions and Feedback
Students expressed mixed reactions after the exam. While some found the paper moderately difficult, others described it as challenging, particularly in the biology section. The NTA has assured that the answer keys will be released within a week, followed by the results in the first week of July.
The high attendance rate underscores the importance of NEET UG as the primary gateway for medical and dental admissions in India. With nearly all registered candidates appearing, the competition is expected to be intense.
